This was a ‘Design and Build’ project which consisted of the construction of a new 179 cell (354 bed) Wing to the existing prison, a new kitchen block (for entire prison) and vast siteworks. New security fencing (5.2m high) was erected to the perimeter of the wing and new exercise yards included in the design.

Midlands Prison building was constructed using a precast concrete system in order to ensure delivery of a high-quality building within short time frame.

Extra specialist services required by client included high security CCTV, padded cells and a sustainable heating system consisting of a wood pellet boiler and solar panels.
